Depending upon a patient’s condition, a pair of orthotic inserts may be beneficial. A computerized scan of patient’s feet can be performed to show if a patient is distributing weight unevenly on their feet. This will show if a patient’s arch is dropping too much and if they are more susceptible to walking as a pronator. If a patient does have biomechanical dysfunction in the way they are walking and it is not corrected through orthotic inserts, other joints of the body can be affected. This includes everything from the ankle to the pelvis and up the entire spinal column.
